Outfit of the Day: Copper & Rust

I’m not sure but there might be a link between wearing cold colours, and having the winter chill creep up on you quicker.

As a result of colours somehow affecting my body’s ability to retain heat, I stick to a fair bit of shades, on the warm spectrum of life, in Winter.

Today’s look may seem light in material; But the kind of fabric one wears, really does matter – weight aint everything!

It’s usually hard for me to get into pieces really fitted for more slender forms, but this Copper Satin and viscose blend dress, allowed me to slip it on and off with ease.

I enjoyed the lightweight feel – despite the fabric being non-stretchy, and maintaining the silk-like aesthetic curvy folks generally avoid.

The surprisingly warm lustrous rust-coloured midi dress, available at Woolworths, also lets you settle into the garment thanks to:

  • The concealed zip fastening
  • Faux pearl buttons at the end of the gathered sleeves arm cuffs
  • As well as a faux pearl button closing the keyhole neck.

When this dress was designed, it was probably with formal events or a corporate wardrobe in mind.

I’m always keen to switch up expectations, and decided to clunk the slick look up with brown strappy platform heels, and knee-high ribbed copper socks, also from Woolworths.

I managed to define my frame by cinching my waist with the detachable copper satin belt.

The overall effect of my styling, is a slick boho look – made chic thanks to the balanced textures and earth-tone colour palette.

So what do we think?

..Cute look, right?!
