The post on the Africa Fashion International (AFI) site just went up.
We are saving the date 24-26 July 2014 for the annual Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: Cape Town.
This event is usually the time for designers unveiling their Spring/Summer 14/15 campaigns. The objective AFI lists when it comes to fashion is primarily the promotion of quality designs showcasing the development of the African motif within the fashion industry.
I’ve experienced an array of polarizing style in the designers collections – some bringing their A-game, with incredible and utterly innovative designs
…and those who deign to show mediocre fashion fad regurgitation and imitation at a world celebrated event.
Ordinarily it is the attendees who redeem the event to “good fashion event” because the street style bypasses the region of
normal street wear, and people become the self-aware mannequins of pure and vibrant style from different ages.
I have been privy to the amazing and fast-paced production life of Pana Television at the event, as well as being invited to stay at some of Cape Towns best hotels, some of which include:Inn on the Square, The Harbor Bridge Hotel and The Westin. They all had thee most amazingly comfy rooms and impeccable and efficient service.
I’ve been privileged enough to be dressed by Luiz de Laja, Traffic Clothing and Milq & Honey these past 2 years, my various outfits alternating from casual chic to punk-rock sophistication.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2012
I consider my style really classic, with its various undertones of simplicity heightened by monochrome color arrangements.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2013
I cant wait to see what this year brings in terms of the whole Fashion Week experience.
Look out on Hy-Se-Sy-Se, Pana TV, AFI, as well as my blog, for further info about the event.
