Pleasant.
Vergenoegd Low Wine Estate is the epitome of pleasant on a Sunday afternoon.
The expansive Vergenoegd estate, with its expansive 360 views of some of Cape Town’s best cityscapes, rests rather demurely, just off the highway to Stellenbosch.
The estate has been headlining in the Cape Town youth demographic, most recently, due to their monthly Sunday concerts, and the accompanying food and artisan goods market.
Utilizing the gap in the city’s market for Sunday Fundays, Vergenoegd has developed a platform for new bands to showcase, and prolific SA favorites, to enjoy the sun, fan exposure, and good vibes of the wine estate.
If you’ve missed their Sunday season of fun, don’t despair! Vergenoegd still has something more to offer you…it is, after all, a lauded wine estate. Vergenoegd offers their personal brand of tradition with
“an aromatic feast in a variety of shapes and sizes, created to tickle your tastebuds. Every meal is created using only the freshest ingredients from our farm garden and can be paired with beverages from wine to craft beers.”
In a nutshell: Foodie’s must descend! The estate restaurant also offers rather scrumptious handcrafted deli options made fresh, with a side of health.
The deli is every foodie and health nut’s afternoon delight, with options ranging from: paté’s, olives, freshly baked bread, buts, meats, cheese and so much more. You can purchase and go, or purchase and enjoy your bounty on the property.
The newly re-landscaped gardens & lawn that sits at the estate’s center, is not just for your viewing pleasure, but visitors are encouraged to buy one of Vergenoegd Restaurant’s handcrafted picnics to enjoy under an Ancient oak tree, or basking in the warmth of the African sun.
“Inclement weather is no problem – we will host you in our cozy Manor House.”
For those who are heavily beholden to traditional dining, you may sit at the veranda tables, to gorge yourself rather decadently, on an a la carte 3 course menu. The a la carte menu has that homemade feel – we’re all privvy to wanting on occasion – to food prepared with the local fresh produce. The pleasant meal one is to have, can only be enjoyed most tastefully with Vergenoegd‘s list of pristine wine options, complementary to the meals served.
Being “family friendly” is one of the things this estate prides itself on; and kiddies can enjoy the actual estate (including animals of all sorts), and eat a yummy & healthy meal from Vergenoegd’s individual kids offerings too.
Should you have specific dietary requirements, please contact us in advance and will shall try to accommodate you.
When I popped by for a Sunday Funday, I got to enjoy some, frankly incredible locally sourced cheese, nuts and meats.
…and don’t forget the quinoa salad with refreshingly crisp white wine.
After I’d had my fill, the stage had my attention, with the internationally renowned SA band ‘Goodluck’ taking to the stage to sing a medley I rejoiced at.
Honestly, if you and your friends have nothing to do one weekend, just visit the estate. It’s no hassle getting there, and you’ll leave relaxed and lethargic.
